A Western Cape teen has been sentenced to a hefty 12 years in prison for stealing almost 2km of copper cable in Robertson, police said on Sunday.
The National Prosecuting Authority in Gauteng has set out to allay concerns about the 8-year-old victim, who is set to testify on Wednesday.
‘[He] emerges with his reputation wholly untarnished,’ said Stephens, as Reshall’s sister, Renisha, sat in the benches, clad in black.
The NMF said: ‘The social cohesion of our country is not dependent on the fragility of those keen on division and contempt for our young democracy.’
The Pretoria Regional Court also imposed a five-year-jail term on the 55-year-old man for sexually assaulting the girl.
